Chinchilla Singing Teacher

Yvette  (DipABRSM, DipATCL, and DipArts) has been singing since eleven years of age. She has had lessons with Ursula Bisley, Breony Bearman, Julia Booth, Ian Campbell, and Glenese Blake, as well as having two singing lessons with Dame Malvina Major. Yvette enjoys performing at gigs, competitions, council events, Anzac services, and weddings, and she loves teaching, which she has been doing since the beginning of 2012. Some of the authors Yvette reads about singing include Richard Miller and Johan Sundberg.

Her emphasis in lessons is on efficient vocal production and a relaxed and natural voice that is a pleasure to listen to. Yvette loves all kinds of music, and sees it as her duty to provide her students with a well-rounded musical education.

Yvette has been also been playing piano since age eight. She enjoys Seymour Fink's foundational work on piano technique, written about in the book Mastering Piano Technique. Yvette regularly performs piano too, and accompanies singing students for exams and performances.

She has a one hundred percent success rate with student exams and has taught in both North and South Islands in New Zealand, Queensland, and Melbourne, Victoria.

Yvette's other major interest is writing. She spent two years as Pontas Literary and Film Agency's youngest ever client and has signed three multi-book international publishing contracts. She has ten books published.

I have known Yvette in her capacity as a music/vocals tutor, as well as working with our enrichment group of children extending them with their writing using her expertise as an author. Yvette is quietly confident, passionate, and successful working with children - Susan Jackson, Principal of West Melton School, 2018.

During the approximately two years in which Yvette has been teaching my daughter, I was impressed by the outstanding level of achievements she was able to achieve musically (as shown by her Trinity exam results in Vocals and Music Theory, which she passed with Distinction) ... my daughter has progressed into a confident and skilled singer - Beverley Eastmond, 2018.

Yvette was always able to impart her enthusiasm and love of playing the piano onto my son. She customized the music and lessons to his current skill level while at the same time providing challenges to keep the learning process going. She put our son through two piano exams in 2018: grade one and two practical piano, Trinity College London. It was a massive challenge but my son attained a clear distinction with 94/100 both times – thanks to Yvette’s excellent teaching skills - Mina van der Colff, 2018.
